Tyler Wilson signed to Oakland Raiders’ practice squad

There was a time when the Oakland Raiders believed Tyler Wilson was a realistic option at quarterback. On Monday, the Raiders signed him to their practice squad.

Wilson was cut Sunday. One day later, the 2013 fourth-round draft pick passed through waivers unclaimed. Former NFL scout John Middlekauff appropriately summed it up:

As for matters related to the Raiders‘ 53-man roster, coach Dennis Allen told reporters Monday that he wouldn’t announce the Week 1 starting QB for “competitive reasons.”

However, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport — citing a source informed of the move — reported Monday night that Raiders coaches have informed players that Pryor will start Sunday. Rapoport said Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson has taken a liking to the second-year pro.

Playing behind a leaky offensive line, Pryor’s mobility gives the Raiders their best chance to win on a weekly basis.

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance …”
